Published by the Home Sauna Guide Team · Updated

Home Sauna Guide publishes guides to buying and running a home or garden sauna in Ireland: prices, running costs, the types of sauna, planning and electrics, and a list of Irish sellers. This page explains how we create that content, check it and keep it up to date.

Who writes our guides

Our guides are researched, written and checked by the Home Sauna Guide Team. Guides carry the team's name rather than an individual byline, and each one follows the process below before it's published.

We are not electricians, planners or doctors. Our guides explain prices, costs and rules in plain English. For a definite answer about your home or your health, we point you to your council, a registered electrical contractor or your GP.

How we create content

  1. Research. We start from primary sources: sellers' own price lists, published heater ratings, the regulations and the regulators.
  2. Verify. Every price and figure is checked against its source. Where sources disagree, we say so, or give a range and explain why.
  3. Show the working. Running costs show the heater size, minutes and electricity price behind them, so you can redo the sum with your own numbers.
  4. Cite. Each guide lists the sources it relies on.
  5. Review. Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and is reviewed on a regular schedule.

Sources we use

TopicMain sources
PricesPrices Irish sauna sellers publish on their own websites, recorded with the page and the date we checked it. See how we price.
Running costsHeater power ratings published by manufacturers and sellers, and the average Irish electricity unit price from a published price index.
Planning rulesThe Planning and Development Regulations, Government planning circulars and council guidance.
Electrical safetyThe Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), which oversees the Safe Electric scheme for registered electrical contractors.
Seller listingsInformation each seller publishes about itself: what it sells, prices, and where it delivers and installs.

Reviews and updates

  • Prices, running costs and the electricity price are reviewed at least every three months.
  • All other guides are reviewed at least every six months.
  • When rules change, we update the affected guides as soon as the change is confirmed.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, email hello@homesaunaguide.ie with the page and what's wrong. When an error is confirmed, we aim to correct it within two working days and update the page's date. Sellers can ask us to correct or remove their listing or prices at any time.

Independence and advertising

Home Sauna Guide is independent. We don't sell, install or service saunas, and we don't take payment to write about a seller or product.

  • Featured listings are paid. Sellers can pay for a Featured spot. It is always labelled "Featured" and shown separately from the main list.
  • The main seller list is not ranked. It is alphabetical, and a listing is not a recommendation.
  • Payment never changes our content. No seller can pay to change a price we show, a running-cost figure, what a guide says, or where it appears in a list.
  • Links to sellers. Links to sellers' websites are ordinary links. If we ever use affiliate links, we'll label them on the page and update this policy.
