Sauna accessories

The short answer

Every sauna needs bench towels. A traditional sauna also needs a bucket and ladle, a thermometer and spare heater stones. Backrests, a hygrometer and lighting are nice extras. Check what comes with your sauna: many include the basics. A kit costs about €149 at one Irish seller.

Common questions

What accessories do I need for a home sauna?

Bench towels for every sauna. For a traditional sauna, a bucket and ladle, a thermometer and a supply of heater stones. Many sellers include some of these with the sauna, so check before buying.

How much is a sauna accessories kit in Ireland?

Timbertrove lists a kit with a bucket, ladle, thermometer and sand timer at €149 (October 2026). Check what's already included with your sauna first.

Can I put essential oils in my sauna?

Only oils made for saunas, diluted in the ladle water, and only if your heater's manual allows it. Never pour neat oil on the stones. Harvia advises keeping fragrances off the wood, where they stain.

Can I use my phone or a speaker in a sauna?

Most phones and speakers aren't designed for sauna heat and may overheat. Some saunas come with built-in speakers rated for the heat. Otherwise, leave devices outside.
