How much does a home sauna cost in Ireland?

Prices by type

We recorded 42 listed prices from Irish sellers in October 2026. The type of sauna matters more to the price than the brand.

"Middle price" is the median of the models we recorded, so half are cheaper and half dearer. Size drives most of the spread within each type: a 1-person cabin and a 4-person cabin from the same seller can differ by €2,000 or more.

Indoor infrared saunas

Infrared cabins are the cheapest way into a home sauna. They use heating panels rather than a stove, warm up in about 15 to 25 minutes and, for most models, plug into a normal socket. Irish sellers list them from €2,099 for 1 person to €5,200 for 4.

Indoor traditional saunas

A traditional (Finnish) sauna heats stones and air with an electric heater, so it gets hotter and you can pour water on the stones for steam. Compact cabins start at the same price as infrared, but premium indoor saunas go much higher. The heater usually needs its own circuit; see electrical requirements.

Garden saunas

Garden saunas are built to stand outside, with thicker timber and a weatherproof roof. Barrels are usually the cheapest outdoor shape, cubes and premium cabins the dearest. Our garden sauna cost guide covers the full cost, including the base and electrics.

Costs on top of the price

• Delivery and assembly. Some sellers include them, some charge separately, and some install only within a set area. Ask before you compare prices.
• Electrics. A plug-in infrared cabin may need nothing. A traditional heater, or any garden sauna, needs a registered electrical contractor to install and certify the supply. See electrical requirements.
• A base. Garden saunas need a solid, level base, such as a concrete pad, paving slabs or decking. See base and siting.
• Accessories. Stones, buckets, ladles, backrests and lighting are sometimes extra.

Running costs

The price is only part of the cost. At current Irish electricity prices, a 1-person infrared sauna used three times a week costs about €6.16 a month to run. A traditional sauna with a 6 kW heater costs about €33 a month. See sauna running costs.
