Sauna delivery and assembly

The short answer

Most Irish sellers deliver and build the sauna, though some only assemble in certain areas and sell flat-pack elsewhere. Lead times vary; one seller quotes about four weeks. Have a level base ready, check the route from the road, and book a registered electrician to connect the heater, which usually isn't included.

Before delivery day

  • The base. Timbertrove says a solid, level base, such as concrete, paving slabs or decking, is needed for every installation. See base and siting.
  • The electrics. Agree where the supply will come in, and book the electrician for after the build.
  • Planning. Make sure the spot meets the exemption rules. See planning permission.
  • Payment and timing. Get the delivery date, deposit terms and what happens if the weather delays the build.

Getting it in

Garden saunas arrive as heavy panels, staves or a ready-built unit. Measure the route from where the lorry can park to the base:

  • Side passages and gates: the narrowest point decides what fits.
  • Steps, slopes and soft ground between the road and the base.
  • Overhead wires and branches, if anything is lifted over.
  • Indoors: doors, stairs and turns for cabin panels.

On the day

  • The team positions the sauna on the base and assembles it. Indoor cabins and many garden saunas go up within a day or two.
  • Ask about access to a socket for tools, and where packaging goes.
  • Check the finished sauna before they leave: doors close properly, benches are secure, no damage.

Afterwards

  • Electric heaters are connected by a registered electrical contractor, who gives you a completion certificate. See electrical requirements.
  • Wood-burning stoves need their flue fitted to the maker's instructions.
  • Register the warranty, keep the manual, and do a first, gentle heat-up as the seller advises.

Common questions

How long does it take to get a sauna delivered in Ireland?

It depends on the seller and model. Caragh Nurseries gives an average lead time of about four weeks for its Lighthouse sauna; Aquasun says delivery times vary by model and location. Ask for a date before you pay a deposit.

Is installation included when you buy a sauna?

Often, but not always. Several Irish sellers deliver and build saunas, but some only assemble in certain areas. Connecting an electric heater is usually separate: Timbertrove says its heaters must be wired by a qualified electrician, which its assembly service doesn't include.

How long does it take to assemble a sauna?

Indoor cabins and garden saunas are usually built on site in a day or two once the base is ready. Ask the seller how long their team needs and whether they need access to power.

What do I need to do before a garden sauna is delivered?

Have a solid, level base ready, check the delivery route from the road to the base, clear the area, and book an electrician to connect the heater after it's built.
